This is apparently a new and very gross scam apparently coined as a “cash slave”.
The one that many Tumblr users are falling for isn’t as obvious as the other one I found while fact checking. They’re usually very similar to porn bots and you probably didn’t notice how pornographic pay/pi/gbi’s header and icon are. I do not know just how much this scammer is doing or if they’re doing anything other than stealing personal information but if you know a minor who’s trying to get free money through this

I was halfway incredulous since I know that Pay Pigs are in fact a thing, but yeah I’m not surprised by this.
All the ones I’ve seen going round are sexually explicit, and even if it’s *not* a scam (cause Pay Pigs are indeed a thing) most people don’t seem to be aware they’re engaging unwittingly in a kink scene.
I had to tell two of my followers today who brought it to my attention as something I might want to participate in, and both those followers were of non consenting age and didn’t realize that’s what was going on.
So if you are going to take your chances on the off chance it’s legit, do so with awareness and maybe tag it as NSFW so the kiddies aren’t seeing it and getting involved thinking it’s just a swell, depressed, rich guy giving away thousands of dollars out of charity.

Also I’ve now noticed people in the notes getting mad that it’s a BDSM thing and how it should have been made obvious, and well…I don’t know how to tell you guys, but the paypig blog tagged it. They tagged it as a fetish, they tagged it domination, they used an appropriate tagging system so that if anyone went to the source to check the legitimacy, they’d see it was a kink and could decide whether they wanted to engage with that or not.
You not checking the source is not their fault. You could argue that maybe they should have made it more obvious in the body of the text, but tbh with a name like paypig they probably thought it was pretty obvious.
I’m not defending them, because yes, I think it’s more than a little skeevy to go onto a site like tumblr which doesn’t have contained threads and communities so that things like kink can filter outside of it’s projected target audience. Sites like fetlife exist for a reason, to keep the kink within a community of people who know what they’re engaging in, and where BDSM etiquette and social cues are made more obvious through context of location.
I’m just saying, you need to be more aware of the things you are engaging with and be responsible for your own internet experience and safety.
If something seems too good to be true…poke it with a very long stick before you decide to jump in and post your paypal link. At the very least go to the source and check it out for yourself and make sure it’s something you’re okay with engaging in. Just, y’know, be aware. And if you do participate, have a care for how you tag it and expose others to it.
I highly appreciate you adding all of these facts and corrections. I was a smidge deprived of sleep when I made it and I will admit I deserve some harshness for that (don’t make serious posts at 3AM guys. Sleep > Tumblr). So obviously between that and not having much knowledge in this stuff anyhow of course I’d get details wrong. So ANY correct information and stuff is more than welcome!
